Just inside the Main Street entrance of the Village Bacchus Marsh shopping centre is a model sculpture (also called a maquette).
The model has been created by public artist & sculptor Anuradha Patel to illustrate a full-size sculpture that one day will grace the forecourt of the Village Bacchus Marsh. The actual sculpture, when installed, will be 5 metres tall and will provide a focal point for this section of Main Street.
The Village is a generous sponsor of the Bacchus Marsh Arts Council and its activities.
For example the BMAC Gallery is located in Shop 48 of the Village, a space the Village generously made available to BMACI.
Bacchus Marsh Arts Council has a vision for Bacchus Marsh and surrounds that will see us become "a regional hub of cultural vitality where arts and culture connects communities through education, participation and creativity".
Art Makes Places is a major project particularly pertinent to our vision. BMACI's commitment to this project exemplifies our intentions as an Arts Council to serve our community.
In collaboration with project partners and supporters we will engage and connect the community in a process of 'placemaking' to mark our place, take ownership of its beauty and resources, enhance our sense of community pride and showcase our resources and talents to locals and visitors alike.
This project will create and sustain new connections within our community and, in the process and as a result of the process, offer multiple economic opportunities.
The Art Makes Places project will take the form of a series of Art Interventions within Bacchus Marsh and District in the form of public artworks, community-based arts projects and design based projects influencing the urban realm.
The project will commence in 2018 and likely last for two or three years.
